More Updates!
Things have been pretty crazy!
Malachai whom I mentioned previously has a severe shoulder injury. I ended up sending his xrays to a specialist in Tucson who didn't see signs of a bone chip. Its been 2 weeks of bed rest and there is still evidence that he's having problems extending his front leg fully - definitely causing pain!!!
He's been on a boatload of supplements and a routine of stretching him 3-4x a day. On Friday we went to see a canine chiropractor/physical therapist and began some work on his entire body. GOOD NEWS .... we found the source of the pain! It seems to be soft tissue on his inner front right leg.
We did a good session with him and will be going back in Wednesday and then probably 1-2x a week until Nationals which are at the end of September.
I thought about doing some pool work with him as well if I can find one to use. He loves to swim in the pool I have but its an above ground pool so he'd have to jump in. Definitely not good on his joints!!!
Right now I'm letting him recoup and will do another set of xrays in a week. We might also start some kind of muscle relaxant or anti-inflammatory.....whatever I can talk the vet into! And hopefully I can start tracking him again next week.
Nationals are about 6 weeks out and the plane tickets and car is secured. So yeah....I'm going for sure since I have to make a report at both the Executive Board meeting and General Board meeting. Not sure Malachai's fate but have my fingers crossed that he can go with me and compete for his SchH1. If he doesn't train between now and then, he has the entire routines down....they just aren't as pretty as I'd like them to be. But .... I'll take what I can get!
In other news.....
I have so many pictures to upload and don't even know where to begin! We've been taking trips to Dog Park and Dog Beach fairly regularly. I'm going to work on my article series and expect a new video or two up soon. I've been working this past month with a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier who's being trained as a Service Dog for a 4 year old Autistic boy. "Angel" has been doing excellent in her training and I'd like to shoot some demo videos since its such an important service that is not very well known about. I've also been meaning to shoot video of Malachai's newest trick...."Go Get a Beer" ....but alas he is injured. So those are two demo videos we will be shooting hopefully in the near future.
Thats all for now!
Thanks again for all your guys support!
