September Happenings!

Sorry the website has been so out of date.

I added two new pages of photos that I've taken over the last month or so. Mainly of the various kids playing at the dog park or dog beach and just having fun

September 20 and 21st we spent setting up a vendor at the Working Pit Bull Terrier Club of America's National Championship in Riverside, CA. What an awesome event!!  Event photos can be seen at the Working Dog Photography website. Below are some images of "Ruby" who hung out at the booth all weekend to work on her dog and people social skills.

Windevilles Dasher VDM, BH, BST, TT  added a few more titles to his name at the WPTCA Nationals..... he successfully passed his Therapy Dog International Certification and his Canine Good Citizen test! Way to go Dasher!

Angel, a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier who has been in training as an Autism Service Dog for the last two months also successfully passed her Therapy Dog International Certification and Canine Good Citizen Test! Way to go Angel! Below is an image of Angel with evaluator Linda Bates.

And our final brag for that weekend.....we decided to support the event by entering Malachai in the Open Obedience Competition and despite not being familiar with the exercises, we walked away with 2nd Place in the Open Obedience Division! Yay Malachai!!

Thanks to Leri Hansen and everyone who helped make the 2008 WPTCA Nationals such a great event!!!

After that crazy weekend....we flew out the next morning to head to the AWMA 2008 National Championships in Washington state! After some hassel at the airport, we made it into town and headed to the competition field! We spent Monday through Thursday practicing and things were looking great until we practiced Protection that night. Unfortunately Malachai is still recouping from a shoulder injury and despite physical therapy, he was stepped on by a decoy that night and he began limping again. I think it was just too much strain on his still-recovering leg to be jumping and running so we had to pull him from the competition the next morning before he got to actually compete.

Despite Malachai's injury, it was a great week spent with many great friends, continued progress for the American Working Malinois Association and a tremendous caliber of dogs in attendence. For those unfamiliar with the event, you can click over to the AWMA Websiteor see videos from the competition by Clicking here!

Special thanks to Les Flores for hosting such a first class event and to all the competitors who competed!

Malachai and I flew back in on Monday morning and resumed school and dog training duties. He's back in physical therapy with our favorite Doctor, Dr. Bodenbender of Back in Motion Chiropractor.

So whats on the horizon?

Malachai is on hiatus until we recover his shoulder but we hope to do a local trial before the end of the year. We are also aiming to do the 2009 USA SW Regionals.

Later this month Dasher will be at the USRC NW Regionals .... wish us luck!

And undoubtably there will be many more events in our future!

Stay tuned for new YouTube videos of Angel's TDI evaluation and video of puppy imprinting with my new arrival Braxton...a hansom black/tan German Shepherd who is my new dectection/Personal Protection prospect!
