New Video!!!

Just added a new video of a demo with a client dog named "Mika". Mika is a 7 month old Jack Russell Terrier who I've been doing daycare and private sessions with. She will also be doing some titles with me in the coming months.

Mika demo's a few tricks and basics in a relatively high distraction area (park with dogs, ducks, and people). She does pretty well but we still have a ways to go! Many of Mika's first sessions were spent doing socialization rather than obedience because she was terrified of her world. As you can see she is much more confident and outgoing!!

To the left you see her with her good friend "Charlie" .... new photos of Mika and Charlie coming soon!!!

New Articles.....

New Article on what a closed economy is and how to use it in dog training.

Also...spent the weekend working out all the bugs on this new layout. Please let me know if anything is not working properly. I am working on a new laptop right now so the keyboard seems to be possessed as well so let me know if there are any spelling errors. The keyboard likes to throw in an extra "e" every once in awhile so please forgive me for errors!

Quick Introduction

Welcome to the OCDogLady Blog!

Hopefully I can keep people up-to-date on happenings with myself, my dogs, and client dogs.

In Current news the Downey Obedience Club had a very successful Obedience Rally Match last weekend. I judged in the Open or "Companion Dog Excellent" ring. Dogs were required to heel off leash, down on command when called, retrieve a dumbbell on the ground, retrieve a dumbbell over a hurdle, and complete a broad jump. If none of that made sense.... try the AKC's website at www.akc.org for rules and regulations regarding Competitive Obedience. This was my second consecutive year judging the match and it was definitely a great learning experience!

I'm also busy with a new class being taught by the Downey Obedience Club as well. The instructor is Gina Grisom, an acreditted competitive dog trainere, who's teaching us about the Utility Level of Competitive Obedience. Cindy Lou is doing
great in class, even if she does get fairly ansy!

For those who have read the "About the Trainer" section, you may have read that when I was 12 years old, I acquired my first dog. "Libby" has spent the last year living in Arizona with my dad and she passed to rainbow bridge on July 11, 2008. Its been a very hard time not having been there for her but I know she's in a better place. I'll be creating a full memorial page for her soon.

Lastly....my sister company, "Overdrive Dog Sports" made its debute at the So Cal All Breed Ringers French Ring Trial on July 5, 2008. This was my first equipment vendor selling Competitive Dog Sport equipment and it went off extremely well....despite a few novice-mistakes on my part. It was an exciting experience and hopefully you will see us out at a trial near you! Our website, www.overdrivedogs.com  is currently under construction but will be up and running in the next few weeks.

Thanks everyone for your continued support!
